French and Indian War
Known as the seven years' war, the french and Indian war determined who was in control of north america. In Britain there were greater resources than in France which was faced with bankruptcy. Despite the number of resources and men the British had, the french reigned superior because they knew the layout of the new land. However the french were outnumbered and faced many defeats. They decided to create the treaty of peace giving the British the majority of the land. -
The Sugar Act
The sugar act was made to end the smuggling of molasses and sugar from the west indies and to fund the British empire during the french and Indian war. In turn many people protested against this act, but the British didn't end it. As a result commerce severely failed. -
