The Berlin wall was created to separate the soviet part in the east and the west belonged to the French, US, and the British. -

In order for the people to be able to go into a different sector they had to get a 30 day pass. -

Berlin blockade begins
The soviets disallowed supply's and goods from entering West Berlin. The United states then started flying in supplies and goods for a period of a few months. -

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created to provide security. -

East German officials proclaimed the existing of The German Democratic Republic. -
Meeting Stalin
Eastern German officials met with Stalin to discuss the movement of East Germans moving to the West. -
Borders closed
After the meeting with Stalin the Eastern German borders were closed. -
Strike
Workers go on strike and demand better work and living conditions. -
Sovereign state
The allies proclaimed Germany a sovereign state which ended the occupation. -
No leaving
East Germans were no longer allowed to leave the East to go to the west. They still could move in small amounts and with permission move to the West. -
Berlin wall built
The wall was built to keep east Berliners on the east, and west on the west. The wall became a symbol for the division of Europe. -
Visitation
The West Berlin people were given limited permission to visit there family in the East, but they were still divided by the wall. -
New wall
A new wall was built that was a lot harder to get through and more guards were hired. -
Self-firing wall
A new wall was put up in order to reduce the number of people who escape. That didn't stop anybody though, people still tried to escape although most died. -
Wall tore down
The wall was torn down and East Berliners were granted freedom. -
Dismantling of the wall
US president Reagan told the leader of the soviet union to dismantle the wall. Other soviet controlled countries were granted freedom as well. -
Brandenburg Gate Opened
The gate was opened and the Western German chancellor Helmut Kohl walked through to greet the Prime Minister of West Germany. -
East and West Germany
East and West Germany reunited and became one. -
