At the end of WWII Berlin was divided into 4 sectors. This created a wall to be built to divide the four sectors. -
Berlin line
the line between east and west Berlin is made. -
Interzonenpass
A 30 day Interzonenpass is required to travel between sectors. -
Currency Zones
in 1948 Berlin had Two different currency zones. This caused the city to be even more separated. -
Beginning of the Blockade
the Germans and the Soviet union cut off the western allies supplies. -
Berlin Airlift starts
The Berlin airlift transport goods to the western side of Berlin. -
FR of Germany is founded
Federal republic of Germany is formed. -
Airlift Ends
The day at which the Berlin airlift stop because the blockade no longer exists. -
German DR is formed
German Democratic Republic is formed. -
Interzonenpass is gone
The western power say good-bye to the interzonenpass. -
No transportation permitted
East Germany inhabitants are no longer able to travel unless permitted and if they aren't permitted they can receive up to 3 years in prison. -
Barrier
The barrier between east and west Berlin is closed. -
The gate is closed
The Brandenburg gate is now closed. -
All crossing closed
all crossing points are closed for western Berlin. -
JFK
JFK says "i'm a Berliner". -
Visiting is permitted
A west Berliner is now able to visit the eastern side of Berlin. -
Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan visits Berlin and urges soviet union leader to take down the wall. -
Hungarian Gov.
The Hungarian Government opens border for eastern Germany refugees. -
Opened for good
The Berlin wall is now opened. -
Germany is reunited
Germany is now a country without being divided.
