Western Allies combine their sectors
Britain and United States combined their sectors into one occupied zone, called the Bizone. Later France will also combine their sector. -
The beginning of the blockade
In hopes of driving out the Western allies, the Soviet Union started the blockade. Closing roads and railroads into the city. -
Airlift begins
Rhe first day of the airlift, thirty-two C-47s lifted off for Berlin hauling 80 tons of cargo, including milk, flour, and medicine. -
Food for West Berlin
Allied forces sent more and more supplies to West Berliners. Making the Soviet Union's Blockade useless. -
The End of the Berlin Airlift
The Berlin airlift ended once the Soviet union lifted the Berlin wall. Close to 2 million tons of supplies was flown into Berlin.
