Navigation Acts
The navigation acts stopped colonists from shipping goods to other countries and made colonists use British ships. This angered the colonists and made them start to smuggle. -
Proclamation of 1763
This angered colonists and prevented them from moving beyond the Appalachian mountains FOR THE TIME BEING. -
Sugar Act
This act taxed sugar, which made the colonists unhappy. They did not like taxation without representation. Sugar act hit colonies at time of depression, and it hit them hard. -
Stamp Act
This tax made all printed material in the colonies have to have a revenue stamp, which costed money. This was a direct tax, and the colonists did not like it. Again, taxation without representation. -
Declaratory Act
This act stated that parliament has all rights to make whatever laws whenever they please. The colonists did not like it. -
Townshend Acts
Taxed paper, paint, lead, alcohol, tea, and glass. The colonists still do not like it. It is still taxation without representation. It angers the colonists, and there starts to be unrest. -
Tea Act
This act was made to help the struggling British East India Company. It made it easier for the company to ship tea, and lowered the price of smuggled tea, which made the colonists more inclined to buy British tea. The colonies were angry, and again, they were mad because of taxation without representation. This act le to the Boston Tea Party. -
Coercive Acts (intorelable acts)
These were acts meant to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. These angered the colonists, made even more dissent, and led to the American Revolution. -
Quebec Act
This act gave Quebec lands that the colonists had fought for during the 7 years war. This brought the colonists to outrage, seeing as the French were who they fought in the war.
