Formation of Earth
4.568 billion years ago Is when scientists believed Earth began -
390 BCE
Oceans Existed
4.4 billion years ago there was evidence of oceans on earth, just unaware if life was in the oceans at this time -
380 BCE
Archeaneon
4-2.5 billion years ago was the archeaneon period where life's first forms were found. This is where all life was existing in Earths oceans and only single celled organisms were living. -
370 BCE
Paleoproterozoic & Mesoproterozoic Era
2.5-1 billion years ago was when photosynthesis came into the world to produce oxygen. Eukaryotes became noticed during these eras, as well as multicellular organisms. -
360 BCE
Neoproterozoic Era
1 billion to 541 million years ago was the neoproterozoic era. Algae were becoming more existent and creating more lineages of multicellular life. Sponges and cnidarians started to become recognizable in oceans. -
350 BCE
Cambrian Period
541 - 485 million years ago was known as the cambrian period. This is where scientists could see a bunch of different lines from families and were able to see that generations were getting diverse from their ancestors. -
340 BCE
Ordovician & Silurian period
485 - 419 million years ago was when scientists could tell that the fish in the oceans were getting diverse from one another. Scientists also found that mossy plants were discovered on land instead of solely in the ocean. -
330 BCE
Devonian Period
419 - 358 million years ago was a great period because scientists were able to discover insects, plants, and vertebrates living on land -
320 BCE
Carboniferous Period
358 - 298 million years ago. Carboniferous period is when swampy like forests were formed due to seed plants expanding on land. Scientists were also able to track down amphibian like vertebrates over different parts of land during this time. -
310 BCE
Permian & Triassic Period
298 - 200 million years ago was a big changing time for Earth. The environment was changing and it was causing complete wipe-outs of species. This period was also very important because it was the start of dinosaur life. -
300 BCE
Jurassic & Cretaceous Period
200 - 66 million years ago was the jurassic and cretaceous period because dinosaurs were conquering the land while very large marine reptiles were conquering the oceans. Scientists were able to track flowering plants back to these periods because they were found in forests and were being pollinated by insects. -
290 BCE
After Cretaceous Period
66 - 2.5 million years ago was following the cretaceous period where there were many extinctions that came at the end of the cretaceous period, mammals were found to dominate land. Grasslands also came about following the cretaceous period because of an environmental change. -
280 BCE
2.5 million years ago to Present
The change in the environment led earth through different ice ages, but it also presented earth with diverse apes and us humans just 200,000 years ago.
