  • Industrial Revolution

    It began in Britain from 1760 to 1840. Most machinery used by people around the 1760's began to be powered by wind, animals, falling water and human labor.
  • American Revolution

    This can also be called 'The United States war of independence'. America wanted political independence from the Britain colonies so they fought for independence. When the Americans won the war they had independence and formed America's freedom.
  • The First Fleet

    The first fleet came to Australia in 11 ships. The fleet arrived in Botany Bay on the 18th of January 1778, but were recommended to not permanently stay because of the lack of water. They arrived at Sydney Cove in Port Jackson and there they had what they needed to stay.
  • The French Revolution

    The French Revolution lasted 10 years finishing in 1799. That was when Napoleon and the people of France took over the government.
  • Napoleonic Wars

    The Napoleonic wars were a set of wars against France and other European countries. The fighting lasted for 23 years until the battle of Waterloo in 1815 which Nepoleon lost.
  • The Statue of Liberty in New York

    The Statue of Liberty was a gift to USA from France in 1886. The statue is also known as 'Liberty Enlightening the World'. The statue symbolises the friendship between France and the United States and a reminder of the freedom America has.
  • The Modern Olympic games started

    In 1896 the first modern Olympic Games were held in Greece. 241 athletes competed from 14 different countries. There was 43 events to choose from.
  • Walt Disney was born

    Walt Disney, the creater of Disney productions and Disneyland was born on the 5th of December 1901. He was born in Chicago, Illinois but raised on a farm in Marceline, Missouri.
  • San Francisco fire

    In 1906 an earthquake hit San Francisco which caused many fires. This left 3,000 people dead and 28,000 buildings were ruined after the disaster. The earthquake broke the cities water supply and firefighters couldn't use water to put out the fires.
  • Sinking of the Titanic

    A passenger ship called 'The Titanic' hit an iceberg and sank down to the bottom of the ocean. 2,200 people were on board the ship and more then 1,500 of them died when the ship sank.
