Annexation of Hawaii
In 1887, the US was allowed to build a naval base in Pearl Harbor, then in 1893, Americans had revolted and overthrew Queen Lilioukalani. This lead to annexation of Hawaii in 1898.

American Newspaper
American Newspapers had gotten a hold of information about Cuba and Spain, and started to write everything about the events that had happened in their newspaper.They also wrote stories about the Spanish sinking the USS Maine. This caused an uprising in their selling of newspapers and also a new name for their journalism, "yellow journalism". -
Destruction of USS Maine
The USS Maine was cruising quitely in Havana Harbour when all of a sudden, the ship blew up, killing 260 officers and men on board.
