In January of 1834, the Beagle stops in Chiloé Islands, Chile. While here for over a year, he sees Mount Osorno erupt and experiences an earthquake.

After 6 more stops, the HMS Beagle stops on the Galapagos Islands, in September of 1835. This is where Charles does most of his work and comes up with his theories.
