  • Navigation Acts

    The acts of Parliament were made to promote worthiness of the British Empire. It restricted colonial trade to England and decreased the dependence of foreign imported goods.
  • French and Indian War ends

    It ended because of the Treaty of Paris. This was a war that lasted 7 years between Great Britain and France. France had to give up all its territories in mainland North America.
  • Stamp Act

    The British Parliament imposed taxes on items such as new papers and pamphlets. The American colonies repealed in 1766.
  • Boston Massacre

    A "street fight" between a patriot mob. Snowballs, sticks, rocks, etc. were used as weapons. Multiple colonists were killed.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A political protest at Griffin's Wharf inBoston, Massachusetts. It occurred due to the American colonists being frustrated because Britain imposed "taxation without representation." 342 chests of tea were dumped.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act of 1773 was a law made by the Parliament of Great Britain. ...   • First Continental Congress

    It took place in Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Representatives from Britain and American colonies met to discuss how to respond to intolerable acts.
  • Second Continental Congress

  • Lexington and Concord

    This was how the American Revolutionary War began. The British wanted to capture John Adams and John Hancock. America stood their ground and the British suffered severely.
  • Declaration of Independence adopted

  • Battle of Saratoga

    The Continental Army maintained good strategy and secured a victory against the British.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    Due to shortages of food, lack of proper hygiene, sanitation, and medical knowledge of the time, over 2,000 soldiers died during the winter. But, through it all, George Washington stayed loyal to his troops and got them through in.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Virginia marked the end of the last major battle of the America Revolution. It was the start of America's independence. This event allowed Washington to shine and win the election as the first president of the United States.
  • U.S. Constitution written

    The founders; George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, and etc., set the terms for approving the Constitution.
  • U.S. Constitution adopted

    The United States Constitution was adopted by the Federalists.
