Band Season Timeline

  • The Cycle begins

    The band's 2023 marching show theme, "The Hope Cycle," was announced to students for the first time at the end of one of the band's movement camps. The song selections for the show were also revealed: First Circle by Pat Methany, Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush, Jotenheim by Nathan Daughter, Song of Hope by Peter Meechan, Icronic by Polyphia and Ode to Joy by Beethoven.
  • Hype Day

    Before school gets out for the summer, the band hosts a "Hype Day" to prepare both veteran and freshman band members for the upcoming season.
  • Period: to

    Summer Band Camp

    Summer band, sometimes considered the most difficult period of any band kid's marching experience, means eight hours of rehearsal everyday for two and a half weeks. However, even with the sun blazing down in record high temperatures and an inundation of technique and drill to learn, the band keeps in high spirits with the anticipation for the competition season to come.
  • First Day of School

    The beginning of the school year brings an end to Summer Band Camp, but introduces 7 a.m. before school rehearsals and after school rehearsals lasting until 8 p.m.
  • BOA Houston

    Performing the Hope Cycle for the first time in competition, The Pride of the East competed at the Bands of America North Houston Regional Championship after several months of intense practice. The band placed seventh in finals.
