NFL owners approve Clevland's franchise to move to Baltimore
The owner of the Clevland Browns, Art Modell, was angry with Clevland officials so he announced he will move the team to Baltimore in the 1996 season. The NFL approved and this is how the Baltimore Ravens originated. -
The Raven's name
Team is officially called the ravens after voted upon by The Sun. This name has stuck with the Baltiore Ravens ever since. -
First NFL Draft
The Baltimore Ravens conduct their first NFL Draft. Their top draft picks were LB Ray Lewis and OT Jonathan Ogden. Both of these athletes will later in life end up in the Hall of Fame -
End of first season
The Baltimore Ravens finished their first season with a 4-12 record. They had the worst defense in the NFL. This impacted the next draft to mostly become defensive player picks. -
New stadium
The new Baltimore Ravens staidum is finsished and the organization moves in. This stadium is still being used today by the Ravens. -
Super Bowl XXXV
The Ravens beat the Giants 34-7 in the 35th Super Bowl. The lombardi trophy that was given to the Ravens is still owned by the Ravens today. -
New Manager
Ozzie Newsome is named General Manager. He is still the General Manager of the Ravens today. He became the first ever black General Manager. -
M&T Bank Stadium
Buffalo based M&T Bank buys the naming right for the stadium. The stadium is now called M&T Bank Stadium even to this day. -
New Training Camp
The Ravens moved into their new facility in Owings Mills, Maryland. This training camp is still being used by the Ravens today. -
Sweeping Pittsburgh
For the first time in team history the Ravens swept their rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers. This impacted many Ravens fans as they watched their team dominate both games against the Steelers
