French and Indian War
The French and Indians fought the British over the Ohio River Valley. The Indians stopped helping the French in the middle of the war. Great Britian won the war! -
Proclamation of 1763
King George III forbid the colonists from settling west of the Appalachian Mountians. It stated that the Ohio River Valley was reserved for the Indians. -
Stamp Act
Parliament passed the Stamp Act, a tax on printed paper, making the colonists pay for the French and Indian War. This did not make the colonists happy at all. -
Boston Massacre
A fight between the British soldiers and the Boston colonists. Colonists threw ice, threw clubs, shot guns and 5 colonists died. -
Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty dressed up like indians and they thew all of the tea that was on the three ships, off the ships and into the Boston Harbor. -
1st Continental Congress
All colonies, exept Georgia, met in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. There they discussed the problems they were having with Great Britian. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
These were the first battles during the Revolutionary War. At Lexington the minutemen fired along with the British soldiers, 8 minutemen died by the end of the battle. At Concord the minutemen fired at the British soldiers and it was the shot heard 'round the world. -
Declaration of Independence
This documents was signed and written by Thomas Jefferson with the help of John Adams and Ben Franklin. This document was written to the king stating that they are breaking away from Great Britian. -
Battle of Saratoga
This battle was the first major American victory and it was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. -
Surrender at Yorktown
This was the end of the Revolutionary War. America won, General Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington. -
Treaty of Paris
This was when Great Britian finally recongized the United States was an independent nation, this also set American borders.
