Aztec Timeline By juniper May 17, 1325 Tenochtitlán is founded and settled. Jul 5, 1370 The Aztec religious leader Tenoch dies. Aug 12, 1375 Acamapichtli becomes the first ruler of the Aztecs. Sep 16, 1428 The Aztecs form a three-way alliance with the Texacocans and the Tacubans. Aug 22, 1440 Moctezuma begins his rule. Jul 27, 1452 A huge flood severely damages Tenochtitlán. There is also a famine. Nov 7, 1478 The Aztecs expand southward into Mayan territory. Oct 25, 1502 Moctezuma II becomes ruler. Nov 8, 1519 Cortes arrived in Tenochtitlán. Feb 15, 1520 Cortes and his men take the Aztec nobles hostage and kill many of them. Aug 13, 1521 Tenochtitlán falls.
