    The Tlaxcalans did not like the Aztecs one bit, but there weren't fond of the Spanish either. So when the Tlaxcalans tried to attack the Spanish, their leader Cortes, held them off with guns and steel aurmor. The Tlaxcalans were not able to defeat the Spanish.

    The Tlaxclans thought it would be a good idea to create an alliance with the Spanish because they new that they didn't have the capability to defeat the Spanish.They agreed to join forces with Cortes to defeat the Aztecs.

    After sending many letters saying Cortez was comming in peace, Cortes acted like he was a god. But while Cortes did this, Mochtezuma was unsure wheather or not cortes was Quetzalcoatl.

    About after a week after Cortes arrived and met Mochtezuma, he took Mochtezuma hostage in the palace Mochtezuma prephared for Cortes to stay in. After Mochtezuma was in the palace then Cortes smashed all the Aztecs idols and replaced them with statues of Roman Catholic saints.

    There were many nobles, preists and warriors at this annual festival. They were all getting ready to sing and dance. All unarmed. Then Alvardo and his men surrounded the courtyard and massacured the unarmed woreshippers. Preists and nobles died.

    People who were alive joined hands and fought against all the Spanish. They were so strong and though that Cortes's men had to back off and run away. Their peaceful agreement vanished between the Aztecs and Spanish.

    Cortes and his allies; Tlexcalans, had defeated Velazquez and his men. All those survivers were forced to join Cortes to make his army bigger and stronger.When returned to Tenochtitlan, he found that his men were trapped, but was able to get to the palace where they were staying. Cortes had Moctezuma translate that the Spanish wanted peace again. Moctezuma was hit hard but a stone his people where throwing at the Spanish and died a few days later.

    The Spanish tried to make their way to coast in the middle of the night, but the Aztecs caught them crossing the causeways and attacked. The Aztecs attacked them from all directions. Some Spaniards were carrying stolen gold from the temples. Unwillingly to give up the gold, many were quickly killed or they drowned. 700 Spaniards died, and 2000-3000 Tlaxcalans died.

    While the Spanish and Tlaxcalan's were recovering from the wounds, the Aztecs were dieing from a terrible disease called small pox. It was brought to the Aztec world from the Spanish. Many spanish had it in their system but it was not affecting them. Half the population died and soon their new leader died of it after 80 days of leading his society.

    After the Spanish got away from the Aztecs, they regrouped with the Tlexclans, aswell as the warriors of Texcoco. All these men were members of the Triple Alliance. With half of the Aztecs population, and the small pox disease going around, it was had for the Aztecs to defend themselves.

    When the Spanish attacked the Aztecs, their Empire was crumbling. The Spanish blocked the water ways, causeways and the aqueducts. This prevented the Aztecs from eating food or water. The Aztecs finally surrendered August, 13, 1521. Huey Tlatoani was taken prisoner and was hanged.

    Once the siege ended, the Spanish destroyed the city. They tore down the temples and ripped down homes and palaced. They set everything on fire so nobody would hide. They filled the causeways with rubble so no one could escape by boat. Less than 3 years after Cortes arrived on its shores, he became governer and captain-general of New Spain.
