    A significant severe weather and a flash flood event occurred during the evening of Sunday, March 28 and the early morning hours of Monday, March 29, 2010. There were 4 confirmed tornadoes in the RAH CWA with no tornado related fatalities. The number or injuries was difficult to determine but estimates range up to 8 significant injuries (broken bones) with numerous other minor injuries. Local authorities report that there was damage to over 600 structures in the High Point area alone.

    Keith Lamont Scott, 43, was shot by Police Officer Brentley Vinson, who is also black. Protests and riots erupted in Charlotte following the shooting.
    Mecklenburg County District Attorney announced no charges against Vinson, saying the officer acted lawfully when he shot Scott.
    Murray said Scott was armed with a loaded weapon when he exited his vehicle. Scott’s family has held that he was unarmed and reading a book, waiting on his son in the complex’s parking lot when approached by officers.
