    Australia defeated a Japanese force at Wau during late January and early Febuary.

    The Australian and American forces had captured Japanese positions near Salamaua.
  • Salamua and Lae re-captured

    The Allies defeated Japanese forces and Captured Salamaua. Later during September American and Australian air, land and sea operation which involved the 7th and 9th Australian division recaptured Lae.

    Battle for Shaggy Ridge

    The 7th division was then commanded to the Markham-Ramu Valley to pursue Japanese forces around the Finisterre Range where the battle for Shaggy Ridge continued into 1944.
  • Huon and Japanese Strongholds

    The 9th Division were commanded to take the Huon Peninsula and by the end of October, they had secured Japanses strongholds located at Finschafen and Sattelberg.
