Australian History

  • 1606, the discovery of Australia

    The first explorer to ever reach Australia was Willem Janszoon. He found it in 1606 and named the place he landed for Cape Town.
  • 1788, The colonisation of Australia

    In 1770 came the first British ships captained by Captain James Cook. He claimed the east part of Australia to himself and established a penal Colony where he saw fitting.
    Later in 1788, a fleet of British Ships came to establist the Penal Colony. He called the Penal Colony Botany Bay, and is today known as Sydney.
  • The Australian Black war of 1804-1830

    Armed conflicts around Australias island of Tasmania started against the British settlers there and aboriginese who lived there.
    The start of this war was when British soldiers started opening fire on Aboriginese hunting parties.
    These killings increased and the aboriginese fought back by killing isolated individuals.
