  • first fleet

    The first fleet arrived in January the 11th to what caption cook believed to be Terra Nullius, "land belonging to no one" . Though to his surprise Australia (or new holland as the Dutch called the land) had been inhibited by Aboriginals and Torres strait islander people.
  • The gold rush

    The first sighting of gold in Australia was in Bathurst in NSW and in Ballarat witch was also the location of the eureka rebellion. The gold became an economy and created the gold rush where more then 500,000 people from all over the world.
  • Eureka stockade and the bakery hill rebellion

    The rebellion that killed 22 people, 12 injured and 120 arrested got arrested. The battle went on for only 15 minutes but the people on the gold rush won. The leaders were captain j. w. Thomas and captain Charles parsley and the leader for the eureka was peter Lalor and Henry Ross
