  • first Europian sighting

    On the 20th of April 1770, captain cook made the first European sighting on the Eastern Coast of Australia and on the 29th of April the Endeavour enters Botony Bay. Once Captain Cook met the Aboriginals. he wrote in his diary "all they won'ted us to do is leave."

    In 1788 there was 543 men and 189 women convicts that arrived firstly in Bottany Bay then Sydney Cove and 1780 was the time the first convict got hung for steeling provisions. Also two convict rush cutters were killed by local aborigines at Rushcutter Bay near Sydney Cove.

    In 1789 smallpox impact the Indigenous Australians and it spread really quickly and soon half of the Indigenous population around Sydney settlement died. Also the first convict was given land to farm at Rose Hill, also known an Parramatta.

    In 1870, the first Aboriginal children were enrolled in a public school, in NSW. In a decade there was around 200 Aboriginal children in a public school, in NSW.
