    Drik Hartog Dutch
    Dirk Hartog landed at Shark Bay, Western Australia in 1616 and left this pewter plate with an inscription detailing their voyage and destination. Another Dutch explorer, William de Vlamingh, landed at the same spot 1697 and put another plate there with the original inscription and added one of his own. Vlamingh took the original plate back to the Netherlands. The original Hartog plate is in the Rijksmuseum in the Netherlands. The Vlamingh plate was later removed by French explorer, Lois de Freyc

    I bcame a convit because I stole a loaf of bread. As my punishment I was sent to Austrlalia for my sentance. During this trip over my lips became dry as a rock. On the ship I saw alot of other prisoners die of starvation and a lack of water.

    The Turkish troops were defending their home land and they were fierce fighters. Their advantage was they were on a cliff, and the Australian's had to try and scale up the cliff without getting shot. It was a difficult 8 month campaign for both sides. In Gallipolli the Australian's troops proved they were very good soldiers. The Australian's had a very smart evacuation plan to evauate Gallipolli.
