On the 29th of April Captain James cook viewed the first European sighting of Australia
Captain James Cook travelled to the north of Cape York .After that he decided to claim it for England . He named it New South Wales . (NSW) -

On the 13th of May 1778 the First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay . The first fleet left Great Brittan to come to Australia .The First Fleet was 11 ships carrying :

Sir Henry Parkes who is the Premier of New South Wales for the Fifth time gave a speech at a public banquet in Tenterfield. His speech was about Federation “ I think its time to close a hand when (the colonies ) ought to set about creating this great national government for all Australia”. Henry Parkes has the title ‘ the father of federation’. This is because 12 years later Federation took place in Australia -
Federation
In January 1901 Australia became a Federation . The British parliament passed legislation which allowed the six colonies of Australia govern their own part of the Commonwealth .
