In 1814 August Comte entered entered the École Polytechnique a prestigious school in Paris. Prior to this Comte renounced the Roman Catholic Church in favor of science and history philosophy. Comte started to do a series of lectures on positive philosophy. Comte suffered a nervous break down shortly after starting his lectures, he eventually made a full recovery and continued to lecture on positive philosophy.
