Columbus sailed the ocean blue
Columbus sailing the ocean blue opened the door for many more explorations. Columbus discovered the island of San Salvador, that is just west of the Bahamas. This event brought together the peoples of Europe, Africa, and the Americas. -

First enslaved Africans arrive in the Americas
This event led to a long time of slavery in the Americas involving Africans. The Africans worked in mines or fields or as domestic servants. They suffered harsh beatings and had to work long hours. Many African families were broken apart and most were never reunited. The slaves developed a life based on their cultural heritage like continuing musical traditions and the stories of their ancestors. -

Cortés conquers Aztec Empire
Cortes' conquer of the Aztec Empire was one of the most significant events in Spanish colonization of the Americas. When Cortes conquered the Aztec empire, the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, was destryoed by the Spainsh. This meant there was no more Aztec empire. -

Pizarro conquers Incan Empire
When Pizzaro and his men kidnapped Atahualpa, the Incan ruler, they were offered one room and gold and two rooms of silver in exchnage for his release. After they received the gold and silver, Pizzaro and his men ended up killing Atahualpa. Pizzaro conquering the Incan Empire led to the establishment of Lima, modern day Peru's capital. -
English found Jamestown
Jamestown was the first permanent English colony in North America. When the English founded Jamestown they came across tobacco, one of many resources located in Jamestown, which makes them a very large profit. -
English found Plymouth
Plymouth was one of the English's earliest successful colonies. Plymouth was founded by the Pilgrims and is located in Massachusetts. The founding of Plymouth will open the door for a lot more colonizing of this region. -
French and Indian War ends
The French and Indian War was fought between the French and the English. The war was fought in their surrounding territories for possession of the Ohio Valley area. In the end, the English won becasue they had a lot more soldiers. When the French and Indian war ended, the English got most of the land.
