Germans take over the Danish goverment and begin the "Final Solution," which consists of rounding up Jews to concentration camps. -

Annemarie, Ellen, and Kirstie are stopped and interrogated by two Nazi soldiers on Osterbrogade Street in Copenhagen. -
Number the Stars - September 8, 1943
Mrs. Hirsch's button shop is boarded up and vacant. Annemarie, Ellen, and Kirstie attempt to buy a button from Mrs. Hirsch's button shop. When they arrive they find the shop doors boarded shut and German writing and signs over the doors.
