  • 400 BCE

    Claudius Ptolemy

Ptolemy was an ancient astronomer, geographer, and mathematician who considered the Earth be the center of the universe.
  • 100 BCE

    Eratosthenes

Eratosthenes was an ancient Greek astronomer, geographer, and known mathematician. He is most famous for making the first accurate and good measurement of the size of the Earth.
  • 1532

    Nicolaus Copernicus

Nicolaus was a mathematician and astronomer who made a model of the universe that placed the Sun instead of the Earth at the center of the universe
  • Sep 11, 1572

    Tycho Brahe

Tycho was an astronomer who made some of the most accurate observations of planetary positions that became useful for his peers. He also discovered a new star in the Cassiopeia formation.
  • Johannes Kepler

Kepler was a German astronomer who discovered three major laws of planetary motion including: the planets move in elliptical orbits with the Sun at one focus; the area of law; the harmonic law.
  • Sir Isaac Newton

Newton discovered the three laws of motion which form the basics of physics. His discovery of calculus led to more powerful methods of solving mathematical problems. He is most famous for his law of gravitation. He discovered gravity in 1687
  • Albert Einstein

In 1905, Albert invented the theory of relativity. This theory states the behavior of objects in space and time. It can be used to predict everything from the existence of something like a black hole to light due to gravity. He also invented many other things including the Einstein refrigerator and the gas absorption heat pump.
