Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress playing Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, chooses to wear a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress that stood out to her among the many other gowns sent for her left-at-the-atar scene. For prices, the gown Bradshaw worn was made-to-order for $15,700 with a shortened version for $9,785, but they still managed to sell out in the middle of an economic recession. Needless to say, the media exposure sparked great popularity for the Vivienne Westwood gowns. -

At the Gold Label Spring/Summer 2014 show, the couture Theresa skirt layered over the Cocotte gown is introduced to the Paris runway. There is over 40 meters of fabric under the Theresa skirt’s satin outer layer and to ensure minimal waste of fabric, there is a special pattern-cutting technique with 12 individual layers of tulle sewn together. The present day society is favorable to Westwood gowns because of the rise in individualism and feminism, where women want be expressed as themselves glamorously instead of the outdated stereotypes of brides.
