    The First Cities are Built

    The Sumerians at Tell Brak, Uruk, and Hamoukar in Mesopotamia's Fertile Crecent build and establish the first recognized cities.
  • Period: 1800 BCE to 1600 BCE

    First Complex Societies

    The beginnings of complex societies are brought to light, with Olmec and Babylonian in Mesopotamia, the Shang Dynasty in China, and the New Kingdom in Egypt.

    The Iron Age Begins

    This was when iron replaced bronze when it came to the construction of tools and weapons, as it proved more efficient.

    The Start of Ancient Olympics

    These olympics are not like the ones that we see today. These olympics were incredibly violent and dangerous. At the time it was more of a ritualized warfare than anything, and death wasn't always the main goal of defeating your opponent. This still marks the historic moment that the event, that was open to all Greeks, came about.

    Construction of the Great Wall

    The Great Wall is built in Emperor Qin Shi Huang, China. Eventually stretching to a total of 21, 196 km by the Ming Dynasty.

    The Black Death Plague

    A plague caused by Black Death bacillus, that encapsulated much of Europe, but originated in the Himalayas. This plague took the lives of nearly one third of the human population.

    The Great Dying

    Christopher Columbus sets out from Spain and he along with other mariners reach the Americas. This causes a rise in infrastructure from the old and new worlds, causes a massive dip in the population of Native Indigenous people from the diseases and war that were brought over with Spain.

    A war with the involvement of 32 nations participating, that resulted in the death of over 20 million people. This was known as "the war to end war".

    World War II

    A massive world affair, with the participation of 184 nations. With a total of over 60 million people killed. Within that number, a total of 6 million of those people being Jewish and killed within the Holocaust. The Holocaust itself and reign of Germany/Adolf Hitler was the main culprit.
