(EU)Germany Invades/Declares War on France
Germany declares war on France on August 3rd in the year 1914. During this time, Germany also invades Belgium. Britain sent an ultimatum but the Germans rejected it. -
Britain Declares War on Germany
Britain told Germany to move out of Belgium the night of August 3rd. However, Germany did not budge because they proposed to give Belgium independence. Britain heard of the news and became upset because this is a violation against the Treaty of London. -
Sinking of Lusitania
The Lusitania was owned by the Cunard Line and was built to compete with the highly lucrative transatlantic passenger trade. About 1,260 of the passengers died from the attack. Germany claims that the Lusitania was carrying weapons and war supplies. -

Italy joined the Allied Powers because of the Treaty of London. Italy forcibly attacked on Austria but when it came to Germany they didn't attack. Italy did want territory on Austria-Hungary. -

Zimmerman Note (1914-1917)
The Zimmerman Note was a secret message between German and Mexico if United States joined in the war. The main purpose of the note was for Mexico to declare war on United States to slow down the shipment of weapons. However, Britain intervened and obtained the message and they sent it to the U.S government. -
Wilson asks for Declaration of War
While WWI was happening, United States remained neutral. However, after Germany sunk the Lusitania with a U-boat, President Woodrow Wilson asked Congress to declare war against Germany. Four days after Wilson asked Congress, Congress declared war on Germany. -

Wilson asked Congressed for a declaration of war against Germany. The U.S senate voted and it was agreed. Later Germany got the message that there will be war. -

After United States declared war on Germany, Congress passed the Espionage Act. The Espionage Act states that whoever promotes the enemy or insults the U.S. government would face harsh punishments. There were many outbreaks that occurred and activists were arrested and sent to prison. -

The Spanish Influenza was the most severe pandemic. Hospitals were overfilled with patients that schools and building had to be converted to hospitals so that everyone could be treated. The Spanish Influenza killed over 50 million people. -
President Woodrow Wilson Issues his "Fourteen Points"
On January 8th of 1918, Woodrow Wilson presented his 14 points in front of Congress. He addressed the causes for World War I and his plans for peace. In his speech, he touched on the point of reducing weapons, getting rid of secret treaties, free roam of the seas, and equal trade. -
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was a peace treaty between Russia and the Central Powers. The treaty was sign on March 3rd in the year 1918. This let Russia end their participation to World War 1. -
Armistice
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the Germans and U.S. declared an armistice. An armistice is an agreement between both countries to stop fighting and to surrender. Germany negotiated an armistice because both sides had suffered too many deaths. -
The Treaty of Versailles is Signed by Germany
The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28th of 1919 which ended WWI. France, Britain, and United States all had different plans for the treaty to make Germany pay for the damage. In the agreement, Germany declared the blame for the war, pay reparations, and demilitarized Rhineland.
