This treaty concluded the Spanish- American War, and foresaw the expansion of US imperial power in the Pacific. -
Geary Act
The Geary Act of 1892 extended the Chinese Exclusion Act, it required all Chinese residents of the US to carry a resident permit. Breaking this law was punishable by deportation or 1 year of hard labor. -
Asiatic Exclusion League
The Japanese and Korean Exclusion League rallied to prohibit immigration of Asian laborers in the US. This league promoted policies banning immigration and employment of Asian immigrants.
