Byzantine art was mostly concentrated on religious figures such as God, Jesus, Virgin Mary... Church theories were converted into artistic pieces. These paintings were not just in churches but homes as well.I chose this picture because it was a mosaic. Mosaics require a lot more effort than a regular painting. This painting also is a clear art piece from the Byzantine period since it's a mosaic of Jesus and there is a cross behind him. -

Romantic art was based on the Romantic movement.I chose this painting because it shows liberty and independance in it. The colors make the painting beautiful as well. The fact that the background is dull and the lady holding the red flag is wearing a different color makes it stand out. -
