These painters sought to capture the effects of color, light, and depth in nature. This vivid style of pianting developed in France at the end of the 19th century. Post Impressionism
Lasted until 1905.
This small group of independent artist rebelled against the resistrictions of Impressionism. Fauvism
Lasted until 1910.
Fauvism was inspired by the artist's feelings on a certain subject, rather than the actual object. It was created by using bright, bold colors. Abstract Art
Lasted well into the 20th century.

Cubism
Lasted roughly through 1915.
This form of art drew a lot from other cultures, expecially African Art. Futurism
Lasted until 1914.
Art was inspired by industrialzation, techonology, and exciting, new aspects of urban life. This art was founded by the poet Filippo Tommas Marinetti. It embraced art in the widest and most abstract sense. Their ideas came from cubism, but with a slight twist.
