Byzantine Ari
Byzantine art was mostly concentrated on religious figures such as God, Jesus, Virgin Mary... Church theories were converted into artistic pieces. These paintings were not just in churches but homes as well.
I chose this picture because it was a mosaic. Mosaics require a lot more effort than a regular painting. This painting also is a clear art piece from the Byzantine period since it's a mosaic of Jesus and there is a cross behind him. -

Renaissance Art
Renaissance was the "rebirth" of art. Artists used more light and color to make the painting realistic. The most important and significant characteristic of renaissance art is the fact that the paintings looked very realistic.
I chose this painting because it is the most famous piece of art in the world. The painting is very realistic to the point where the eyes will follow you wherever you go. -
Baroque Art
Baroque art used a lot of contrast and dramatic color to create a specific mood for the painting. Strong lightings and instense emotions werre created throughout their paintings. They also used exaggerated motion to make it look even more dramatic.
I chose this painting because I believe it's a perfect example of baroque art. The painting appealed to me because the colors and the patterns are dark that gives a sense of mystery. -
Romantic Art
Romantic art is not romantic, but is based on the love you have for your country.Every painting had a strong sense of independancy. Romantic art was based on the Romantic movement.
I chose this painting because it shows liberty and independance in it. The colors make the painting beautiful as well. The fact that the background is dull and the lady holding the red flag is wearing a different color makes it stand out. -
Realism
Realism is using realistic features without any unrealistic features. The colors were not exaggerated in any way but remained very truthful and real.
I chose this painting because I love how realistic it looks. It almost looks like an actual picture taken by a camera. Another thing I like about the painting is the choice of color. -
Impressionist Art
Impressionist art uses a variety of colors. They used thin and small yet visible lines. Most of the impressionist paintings were of the outdoor modern life and landscapes. Colors were not blended, but were left to create a more vibrant painting.
I chose this painting because I love the vibrance and lines of the painting. The different colors used in the painting makes it interesting. -
Surrealism
Surrealism is basically the oposite of realism. The paintings usually contained unrealistic and strange pictures or figures that can only be seen in your subconcious mind.
I chose this imagine because of its deep meaning and creativity. The paintings creativity and creepiness appealed to me since it was very abnormal and unrealistic. -
Contemporary Art (Graffiti)
Graffiti is a type of art that is usually scratched, sprayed or scribbled onto a wall. Modern graffiti is either within the hip-hop culture or may contain a deeper or more political message to it.
The painting that I have chosen has a deeper and more political meaning to it. It basically shows a child with a sewing machine which represents child labor.
