    Charles is born on the 12th of February 1809 in Shrewsbury,England to parents Robert and Susanna Darwin.

    Charles's Childhood

    As a young boy,Charles loved nature.He liked collecting pebbles and plants,and his mother taught him how to identify different flowers.However when he was only 8, his mother died of natural causes,which left Charles shattered.At the age of 9,he went to a nearby boarding school, along with his 13 year old brother.Darwin didn't do very well at school.He didn't listen to his teachers and he hated maths. However his love for science was shown when at the age of 13 he built a lab in his back garden.

    Darwin's father wanted him to be a doctor.So in 1825,aged 16,he was sent to study medicine in Edinburgh,Scotland.He hated it! Charles wrote to one of his sisters that the lectures were dull,and he couldn't bear the sight of blood.After 2 years,his father let him give up medicine

    At Cambridge, Darwin decided to study to become a vicar however it was an equally hopeless plan. Charles couldn't be bothered to study subjects that bothered him.

    The trip on the Beagle could have possibly been the most exciting thing that happened to Charles.The Beagles mission was to chart the coast of South America, making maps for the British government.

    The discovery of the Galapagos was probably the most exciting thing that happened in Darwin's life.Darwin wrote and drew all of his discoveries into his travel book.

    Darwin thought of publishing his book,the origin of species,however he was scared the public would disagree.However in 1859 he did.He married Emma Wedgwood and had 10 children.
  • Death

    At the age of 73,Darwin died.Darwin thought he would be buried in the local cemetery however his scientific friends arranged him to be buried in Westminster Abbey.
