Robbery suspects kidnap 2 Shreveport children

Barksdale airman fatally stabbed at Bossier nightclub
Technical Sergeant Zechariah Casagranda was fatally stabbed during a melee in the rear parking lot of Rockin Rodeo early on the morning of January 23.
Casagranda was the assistant NCO in charge of 2nd Munitions Squadron line delivery.
21-year-old Benjamin William Shaw of Killeen, Texas is awaiting trial on a charge of second-degree murder. -
SWAR teen shot, killed at birthday party
Caitlin Caskey, 17, of Ashdown, Arkansas, was fatally shot while attending a birthday party Saturday night. The woman accused of killing Caskey, 40-year-old Tracie Dierks, appeared in court Tuesday for her alleged role in the shooting. In October, Dierks pleaded guilty and apologized to Caskey's family. -

A Mooringsport woman whose infant daughter was thrown from her SUV in a June a crash was arrested on a warrant in connection with the wreck. Lindsey Leigh Logan, 30, was charged with 2 counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injury in which her 7-year-old daughter was also injured. -

Mayor Tyler announces plans for aquarium in Shreveport
News of an aquarium coming to Shreveport created a quite a buzz in September. Mayor Ollie Tyler announced that the city had leased the long-empty Barnwell Garden & Art Center to the Planet Aqua Group for the development of a $4.3 million aquarium along the Red River on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway. The aquarium is expected to open the Summer of 2017. -
Sligo Road bridge finally reopens
The wait finally ended for those wishing to cross the Sligo Road bridge over Red Chute Bayou in southern Bossier Parish. The bridge was scheduled to be complete in May, but high water in the area slowed the timeline this spring. Floodwaters from earlier this year and rushing debris damaged bents and caused erosion. The roadway was closed for more than a year while contractors work to replace it. -

Alan Crump named Shreveport police chief
Mayor Ollie Tyler announced Alan Crump’s appointment to the city’s top law enforcement job. Crump had been running the department as interim chief and its 840 employees since July, when Police Chief Willie Shaw announced his retirement after 6 years at the helm.
