  • The birth of a beautiful African American Lady.

    Araminta Ross was born in Maryland, around the year 1820 as a slave. One of eleven kids. She was lucky enough to stay with her mom and dad. because most slaves get taken to different farms. Her parents names were Benjamin Ross and Harriet Green. they sometime they called her Minty. At the time people didnt keep records of slaves date of birth, so the month and date is unknown.

    In her early teens, she suffered an injury.
    Always ready to stand up for someone, ross blocked a doorway to protect another field hand from an angry overseer. the overseer picked up and threw a two-pound weight at the field hand, it fell short, striking ross on the head which made her get a fracture her head

    Araminta Ross married a free black named John Tubman,
    after they got married she took the last name of Tubman and her mother name of Harriet. Her whole name was Harriet Ross Tubman. On the left side , the lady with the hat is Harriet Tubman, and the man with the cane was her husband.
