Six- Day War
Israel lunched air strikes against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. Their troops moved in and quickly defeated Arab forces. Israel took control of the Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. -
Yom Kippur War
Determined to win back territory, Egypt and Syria lunched a surprise attack against Israel. Israel wasn't prepared and needed U.S. military support. With U.S. help, hey were able to fight. A week later, both sides agreed to cease fighting. -
Camp David Accords
Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister, Menachen Begin reached an agreement. Sadat declared that Egypt wanted peace with Israel. Egypt recognized Israel, and Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. -
First Intifada
The First Intifada was the Palestinian resentment of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, that turned into a rebellion. During this Intifada, Palestinian youth battled Israeli troops, and Israel responded with a strong military and police resistance. -
Oslo Accords
PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) Leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister negotiated the Oslo Accords to end the violence. It called for Palestinians to slowly gain control over the governing of the West Bank and Gaza.
