The Palestine Liberation organization vowed to destroy Israel and replace it with a Palestinian state. -
Six day war
Israel launched air strikes on Egypt, Syria and Jordan destroying most of their planes. Israeli ground forces then moved in and rapidly defeated Arab forces. Israel took control of Golan heights, Sinai peninsula, Gaza strip, west bank and east Jerusalem. -
Yom Kippur war
the war takes its name for the Jewish holiday when the attack first began. At first Arab forces gained territory but once receiving U.S. Military help the Israelis were able to push the Arabs back. -
Camp David Accords
Egypt recognized Israel and Israel gave back the Sinai peninsula. -
Intifada
A rebellion with much violence in the streets with Palestinian youths fighting Israeli troops.
