Rhode Island inacts the first law in the colonies declaring slavery illegal. This is significalt event because it makes other colonies look at slavery in a different light, which caused them to evaluate their position on slavery. -
King Phillip's War Erupts
The war erupts in New England between colonists and Native-Americans as a result of tensions over the colonist’s expansionist activities. This is significant because it resulted in the deaths of 600 English colonists and 3000 Native Americans, including women and children. The war ended on August 12, 1676. -
The English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights stated that the king could not raise taxes without the concent of Parliament. If the king wanted to raise taxes, it was a guaranteed trial by jury. This is significant because these rights were an example for the first Ten Ammendments for the first Bill of Rights. -
Stamp Act
Parliament passes the Stamp Act in 1765. The law was to become effective in the colonies on Novermber 1st. The act required the use of stamped paper for legal dociments, newspapers and playing cards to prove that the tax had been paid. This is significant because it created resentment of British rule. -

The townspeople were taunting the troops - the troops were nerrvous and provoked. Troops open fired and wounded 11 citizens. This is significant because it caused the colonists to be fearful of the troops, and even more resentful towards the British. -

The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the "Sons of Liberty" in Boston. The "Sons of Liberty" dressed-up as Indians and dumped an entire import of tea into the water. This was to protest the tax levied on tea by the British. This is significant because it was one of the main evernts leading to the Revolutionary War. -
The Start of the Revolutionary War
The first shots were fired in Lexington, Massachusetts. It was proven there that the colonists were willing to fight for their independence. This is significant because it shows what the colonists were willing to do to be free from England. -
The Declaration of Independence
This document announced that the 13 colonies were now independent states and no longer under Britian's rule. It was signed by Representatives from each State. This document is significant because it fulfilled man's desire to be free and self-governed.
