Stamp Act
*Tax on all printed goods like licenses, newspapers and even playing cards. Which during this time most of their entertainment was from things made out of paper.
*They had to pay direct tax
*The tax ranged from 1 cent to 10 dollars

*A street fight started between a mob of patriots and British soliders

*Britain isolates Boston from the rest of the colonies
*They send in General Gage to MA and he becomes the Governor. He increases the amount of troops in Boston and his goal is to arrest the rebels
*Sons of Liberty want merchants to boycott but they refuse
*Other colonies are hesitant to provide aid to Boston

*Colonist start boycotting
*They create the 1st continental Congress and the Committees of Correspondence -

*In response to the intolerable acts the colonists start boycotting and do non-importation
*They create the Committees of Correspondence to enforce these things.
*The Committees of Correspondence goal was to avoid mobs and to organize and get every colonist on board.

Lexington and Concord
*The king heard that the colonists were forming a militia in MA. The king reacted immediately
*His goal was to seize leaders and munitions
*Great Britain planned poorly and the colonists found out about the soldiers heading to Lexington and Concord because of the Boston Spy network
*They met the British in Lexington
