  • Apollo 1

    Apollo 1
Apollo 1 was to be NASA's first manned lunar landing mission; yet, due to the unlucky mishap on January 27 1967, during a test flight, the AS-204 and its crew never made it to the moon on their potential launch date, February 21 1967. Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee lost their lives in the fire that consumed the aircraft. The cause of fire was put down to electrical issues. As a result, the mission was not successful.
