Lacey Act
The Laey Act was drafted in 1900 and has been kept the same since it's creation. Endangered species seemed to be coming up more and more in the years and something had to be done to help protect them or the species would go extinct. The Lacey Act was created to help save the endangered species. -
Federal Food, Drug, and cosmetic Act
The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was drafted in 1938 and was ammended in 54 and 58. This act helped make safety regulations for food, drugs, and cosmetics. This act also requires labels to go on food, drugs, and cosmetics. Now we can tell when items go bad and could cause illness. -

Clean Air Act
The Clean Air Act was drafted in 1963 and amended in 65, 70, 77, and 90. Air pollution was a major concern among citizens and scientists. EPA now regulates admissions that go into the air. -
National Enviromental Policy Act
The National Enviromental Policy Act was drafted in 1969 and has been kept around since then. This happened because in Alabama they were using 20 milion gallons of water a day and using that much water hurt the enviroment. It took water away from species around that state and was killing them not being able to have water. This act was put in place to help safe the enviroment and the species. This also helped balance out the ecosystems. -
The Occupational Safety and Health Act
The Occupational Safety and Health Act was drafted in 1970. This act was creatied to make the workplace a better enviroment because accidents were happening on the job everywhere around the country. Becasue of this act lifes are saved in the workplace everyday. -
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act
The Federal Inscticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act was first drafted in 1972 and later was ammended in 88. This act is controlled by the EPA and was put in to action because the goverment and citizens wanted to regulate pesticides to keep the enviroment safe. Many regulations are now put into place to protect our enviroment. -
Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species was drafted in 1973 and has not changed since that date. This was created to help endangered species. Many people traded these species to make money and that was making their populations smaller. Now this act has banned trade on all endangered species. -
The Endangered Species Act
The Endangered Species Act was first drafted in 1973 and then amended in 82, 85, and 88. Endangered species was a hot topic around this time frame and people wanted to do something to help save the species from becoming extinct. This act was put in to place to help protect the land that the endangered species lived on. This act also affected biodiversity. -
Safe Drinking Water Act
The Safre Drinking Water Act was drafted in 1974 and amended in 84 and 96/ In 1936 36 pollutants were found in the water in Louisanna and citizens wanted to change it and make the water safer. The EPA has now set standards for water before it can be drank by people. -
Toxic Substances Control Act
The Toxic Substances Control Act was drafted in 1976 and has not been changed since then. This act was created to help find harmful substances and control them. The EPA looks over this to make sure harmful substances are taken care of. -
Clean Water Act
The Clean Water Act was drafted in 1977 and amended in 81 and 87. Many scientists and citizens were concerned about the water and what was in it. The EPA now regulates admissions that go into the water. -
Comprehensive Enviromental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act
The Comprehensive Enviromental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act was drafted in 1980 and amended in 86 and 90. EPA wanted to prevent hazardous wastes from leaking after a river in Ohio caught on fire from hazardous wastes. -
Convention on the Law of the Sea
The Conbention on the Law of the Sea was drafted in 1982. This act was created to help portect the oceans, lakes, rivers, and seas of the world. This also helped the species living in all bodies of water. Including helping the species this also helped with the littering in the bodies of water. -
The Emergency Planning & Community Right-To-Know Act
The Emergency Planning & Community Right-To-Know Act was drafted in 1986 and has been kept the same since then with minor changes. This act was created to keep the people alert of situations going on in the community. This could apply for storms, spills, and much more happening in the community. -
Convention of Ozone Depletion and the Montreal Protocol
The convention of Ozone Depletion and the Montreal Protocol was drafted in 1986 and has been kept since then. During this time a city in Massachussets did not have sewers and so waste was every where in the city. The wast hurt the enviroment and the ozone layer. The CFS saw that in 1974 that the ozone was depleting and thought they should created an act to do something about it. Later in 1986 this act was created. -
The Oil Pollution Act
The Oil Pollution Act was drafted in 1990. This act was brought up because there was a major oil spill in Alaska that hurt the enviroment and the species that live around it. The act was put in to place to help prevent oil spills and to help the enviroment recovery from them. -
Food Queality Protection Act
The Food Quality Protection Act was drafted in 1996 and has been kept since. The EPA put this act in place and still does today. This act was put in place so pesticides would not get in food and to make sure food met safety regulations before selling them to people. -
Convention of Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol
The Convention of Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol was drafted in 1997 and has been kept since then. This act was put in place because there are admissions in the air that affected the weather in the enviroment. the United Nations took advantage of this plan and still does today. This helps keep the air from being too overpolluted. -
Declaration of the Conference on the Human Enviroment
The Declaration of the Conference on the Human Enviroment, Stockholm Declaration, was drafted in 1972. This act was put into place because the human population was growing. With more people on the Earth means more of Earth's resources are getting used and abused. This act is to help protect the Earth and its enviroment from the human population and their actions.
