Francisco Vásquez de Coronado meets the Apache Indians
Coronado found a settlement of Indias he called Querechos. He described them as nomads, following the buffalo herds on the plains. They were later identified as Apache Indians. They lived in large settlements, one was of two hundred tipies, with more than one thousand people living together. -
Migration of the Apache Indians
Large portion of Apache indians migrated to Kansas plains, the living conditions were not adaptable because of the living and farming on the plains. The Comanche tribe overtook them, and defeated their land, causing the Apaches to move to areas around New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Mexico. -
Spanish were tired of battling
Spanish leader designated areas of Texas to the Apaches, he believed it was easier to give them the land rather than to continue the bloody wars. -
US defeated Mexico
The Apaches signed a treaty with the nation. White settlers began to enter their area in large groups causing to the Apache Wars. -
