Always Having a Book
When I was very young I used to always follow my sister around and copy whatever she did. She was a very avid reader from a young age and I used to always grab a book whenever she went to read even though I did not know how to read yet. -
Group Reading
When I was four years old my mother and I used to go to the Milford Public Library every Friday night for a reading session. High School and College student used to read to groups of children and I would go every week for an hour to be read to. -
Mothers Day Letter
When I was in the first grade, for Mother's Day, we wrote letters and made cards for our mothers. I wrote one of my first letters ever to my mom and she still has it in her dresser to this day. -
The Magic Tree House
One year on Christmas I received a 10 book series of The Magic Tree House. That was my first taste of reading a series of books and being committed to finishing the story. I still have those books and now enjoy reading books that are part of a series as it makes me want to read the next book. -
Spirit Animals
The summer before I went into fifth grade I got into the Spirit Animals series. I used to go to the library once every 2 days and go read while my sister went and studied. -
FireBug
When I was in the fifth grade the first class book we read was, "Firebug" by Marianne Mitchell which I absolutely loved. I vividly remember taking the book home everyday and reading ahead of the class to the point where I finished the book before the class was halfway done with it. -
Summer Reading
The summer before 7th grade I was given a reading list and reading challenge. One of the books on the reading list was, "Out Of My Mind" By Sharon Draper. That book then became one of my favorite books and I went on to finish the summer reading challenge and won a$ 10 Visa gift card. -
Sophmore Year
During my sophmore year I started to read more since, I could not go outside all the time. I enjoyed the reading that was assigned during that class that year. Catcher in The Rye was my favorite read of the year. I started reading more for leisure instead of reading just for a school assignment
