    Great Schism 1053

    Was the break of communion between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church and the outcome was a permanent split in churches. This event was significant because all unity was lost and it created two separate churches.

    1st-4th Crusades 1069-1204

    The first crusades was to help the Byzantine emperor Comnenus, the second crusade occurred because of the fall of Edessa County, the third crusade was an attempt to take control of the Holy Land, the fourth crusade was called by the pope and an end goal of capturing Jerusalem. The 1st-4th Crusades are significant because it stopped the spread of Muslim states.

    Is a document that has charter of rights approved by King John of England. This event is significant because the Magna Carta contains all of prohibitions and freedoms in the Bill of Rights and all of that relates to the U.S government.

    Hundred Years’ War 1337-1453

    Was a series of fights/wars between England and France; the war lasted 116 years. This war is significant because it established the end of England trying to have a physical presence in Western Europe.

    Black Plague 1347-1350

    Was the spread of disease caused by bacteria, wild rodents, and dense population; resulted in 75-200 million deaths. This event was significant because it slowly deteriorated people and was responsible for the most amount of deaths ever.

    Invention of Printing Press 1439

    Was invented by Johannes Gutenburg and the printing press is a device that allows for mass production of printing. This invention is significant because it made printing stuff more fast and efficient.

    Fall of Constantinople 1453

    On May 29th, 1453 Constantinople was taken over by the Ottoman Turks, which also ended the Byzantine Empire. This event is significant because the city of Istanbul came out of it and the Ottoman Turks had control of the Balkans.

    Was a series of English civil wars for control over England. These events are significant because they determined the future for England and how it would be run.

    Columbus’ maiden voyage 1492

    Cristopher Columbus went on his first voyage from southern Spain in pursuit of three ships and the next morning he landed ashore at San Salvador. This event is significant because Columbus was trying to find a direct water route from Europe to Asia.

    Fall of Feudalism 1500

    Feudalism was military customs that have impacted Europe since the 9th century, feudalism ended because of new trade options and changing economy. The fall of feudalism is significant because it changed basic economic and government viewpoints.
