    Genghis Khan Supreme Leader

    In 1206, the Mongols and their allies acknowledged Temujin as Genghis Khan or supreme leader.His advisors were speakers of many religions and by the time he died, he had become the most famous conjurer in history.

    The Golden Horde

    It was established by Genghis Khan's grandon Batu after his defeat of a combined Russian and Kipchak army in 1223. It started as a unified state but started to lose its unityas some districts went into smaller khanates.

    Genghis Khan Dies

    His son and sucessor, the Great Khan Ogodei, continued to assault China. He destroyed the Tanggut and then the Jin and put their territoris under Mongol Governments. He was largely a continuation of Genghis Khan.

    Creation of Yuan Empire

    It all started when Ogodei died in 1241, Khubilai declared himself as the Great Khan in 1265, but descendants of Jagadai and other branches didn't accept him. He transferred his court to Beijing and declared himself founder of the Yuan Empre in 1271.
  • Jan 1, 1281

    Mongols Attack Japan

    The Mongols attacked Japan in 1281, they brought 140,000 warriors in hundreds of ships. The Japanese, however, had built a wall to cut of Hakata Bay from the mainland so the Mongols had no good landing point. After a standoff, a typhoon struck and sank half of the Mongol ships. The Japanese gave thanks to the Kamikaze for driving away the Mongols.

    Power Contests

    Power contests began to break out between Mongol Princes in the Yuan Empire. Farmer rebellions and feuds among Mongols began to engulf the land. Amidst the chaos, Zhu Yuanzhang mounted a campaig that detroyed the Yuan Empire and brought China under control of the MIng.

    Great Pandemic

    Typhus, Influenza, and smallpox traveled with the plague and it created the Great Pandemic, it spread devistation far in excess of what the Mongolds inflicted in the war.
  • Jan 1, 1392

    Yi Eastablished

    The Yi established a new kingdom with a capital in Seoul and sought to reestablish a local identity. Like past empires, they publicaly rejected the period of Mongol Domination yet they continued to employ Mongol-style things like land surveys and military garrison techniques.
  • Jan 1, 1405

    Maritime Connections

    Emperor Yongle restored commercial links with the Middle East, but since hostile Mongols controled parts of the caravan routes, Yongle decided to explore Maritime Trade. This lead the groundworks for Zheng He's naval expeditions that started in 1405.
  • Jan 1, 1485

    Ivan III

    Ivan III wh was the Prince of Moscow, established himself as an aristocratic ruler in the late 1400s. He gave himself the title of Tsar which only applied to foreign rulers beforehand. This represents an effort to establish a basis for rule with the decline of the Golden Horde and disappearence of the Byzantine Empire.
