Enabling Act
Also called The Law for Terminating the Suffering of People and Nation, the Enabling act supplied legal backing of the Dictatorship. This act allowed the opposition of the regime to be locked up. No charges, warrants, or evidence was required for an arrest. This made it completely legal to start anti-Semitism against the Jews. -

Jewish Boycott
In reaction to the boycott of all German goods from the anti-Semitism in Germany, Hitler called for a boycott of all Jewish businesses in Germany. He believed the worldwide hatred of Germany was caused by the Jews. The boycott lasted one day, but it frightened all the Jews around the world. -
Aryan Law (Civil Service = Government Jobs)
The Aryan law affected all Jews. The non-Aryans were to be expelled from the civil service. Hitler told his people that the Jews were taking over Germany. This was false but the German people believed it and helped pass the laws and hate the Jews. -
Berlin Book Burning
Berlin University students decided on an act "against the un-German spirit". They collected books of "undesirable writers". They ended up burning 70,000 tons of books before they were done. This continued throughout all of the libraries in Germany. 1 third of all the books in Germany were destroyed. -
Nuremberg Laws
The Nuremberg Laws had two parts “The Law for the Protection of German Blood and Honor" and” The Reich Citizenship Law". The protection law restricted the Jews and Germans from having any relation together. The Jews were not allowed to have any say or be a citizen of the Reich. Now, a Jew was classified as a person from at least one Jewish parent or grandparent. The Jews were now almost defenseless as a result of these laws. -
German Propaganda
Signs and graffiti was all over Germany expressing the hatred for jews. The Jews were evil to the Germans and propaganda was needed for the German government to express the hatred. -
Jewish Name Change
If a Jew did not have a recognizably Jewish name they were made to have Sarah for girls and Israel for men as a middle name. The government published a list of Jewish names to help identify Jews without a struggle. After, Jews were identified many harsh consequences of their religion came from it. -
Jews Expelled
The Polish government removed Jewish citizenship for those outside of the country. In response the Germans sent 17,000 jews over the border to Poland in response to the issue. -
Night of Broken Glass
A Jewish student in Paris shot and killed a German official at the German embassy in France. This was used as an excuse for the Germans to launch a giant pogrom against Jews. The name comes from the amount of broken glass of Jewish storefronts and homes. The plan was made carefully so that all of the Aryan land would not be harmed. One thousand Jews were killed, many were sent to concentration camps, synagogues and stores were destroyed. The Jews were made to pay for all of the damage. -
Warsaw Ghetto Wall
This wall enclosed the minority of the jews in nazi-occupied poland. The ghetto enclosed about 400,000 people in population -
Jewish Star Requirement
All Jews from age six were forbidden to appear in public without displaying the star. For the first time since the Middle Ages the Jewish star made an appearance as a mark of shame for the Jews. By October of this year the Jews were not allowed to leave their homes without permission they were trapped inside of Germany.
