  • Estates General is formed

    Estates General is formed
    The King's solution to the enlightenment ideas starting to spread was to create a committee in which a representative of each Estate could address concerns. But a problem arises when trying to vote, the 1st and 2nd estate could always outnumber the 3rd. In response, the 3rd Estate leaves and begins creating their own form of government. Because of these events, talk of a revolution is starting to spread.

    Storming of Bastille
    The people hear that Louie XVI is sending troops to Paris, and plan an attack. A mob attacks Bastille, a prison and symbol of authority and tyranny. While there, they can get supplies to use in the attack against the King and Queen
  • Women's March on Versailles

    Women's March on Versailles
    The March on Versailles was one of the earliest movements of the French Revolution. The march consisted of lower class women rioting over the high price and lack of bread. The women stormed the castle and took the Queen and King to paris, in hopes that they could see how much people are being affected by the financial downfall.
  • Napoleon Bonaparte's epic fail in Russia

    Napoleon Bonaparte's epic fail in Russia
    Napoleon leads over 600,000 troops into Russia. When winter hits, the army can't get access to any food, and thousands of men died. Napoleon ultimately retreats, and returns back to France in shame with only 20,000 troops left. This is really significant because it was kind of a rude awakening for the people of France, and they realized that they were better off with the government they had before.
  • Napoleon exiled to Elba

    After his failed attack of Russia, Napoleon was held prisoner on the island of Elba, and ultimately escaped and returned to France to continued to rule.
