  • Feelings for peter

“No one takes peter seriously” This shows that Anne feels as if no one can take peter seriously and at this time she doesn't generally like peter.
  • Life #1

"I've been taking valerian every day to fight the anxiety and depression, but it doest stop me from being even more miserable the next day. A good healthy laugh would help more than ten valerian drops, but we have almost forgotten how to laugh" this shows that Anne is depressed and just wants to be happy.
  • Life #2

Himmelhoch jauchzend, zu Tode breübt” certainly applies to me. Im “on top of the world” when i think of how fortunate we are and compare myself to other Jewish children, and “in the depths of despair” when, for example, Mrs. Klein comes by and talked about Jopie's hockey club, trips, School plays, and afternoon teas with friends.” This shows Anne can have mixed emotions about her living in the Annex.
  • Feelings for peter #2

"My longing for someone to talk too has become too unbearable that I somehow took it into my head to select peter for this role." I think this shows that Anne is so lonely in the Annex she is going to select peter who she used to be not so fond of.
  • Life #3

One minute im longing for peace and quiet, and the next for a little fun. We've forgotten how to laugh- I mean laugh so hard you can't stop." This shows that Anne is starting to feel sad and down on herself.
  • Growing up #1

“There is something else that displeases them: I no longer feel like giving them little kisses morning noon and night.” This shows that Anne is changing and growing up.
  • Feelings for peter #3

"I have the feeling that Peter and I share a secret." I think this shows that Peter and Anne are starting to make a connection and understand each other.
  • Growing up #2

"I'm becoming more independent of my parents." This shows that Anne feels she is becoming more independent and I feel as if this is a sign of growing up.
  • Life #4

"Honestly, things are only as bad as you make them." Anne understands her situation and understands it can only be as bad as you make it and that she feels its a personal opinion on how bad their conditions are.
  • Growing up #3

"I have one outstanding character trait that must be obvious to anyone who has known me for any length of time: I have a great deal of self-knowledge. In everything I fo I can watch myself as if I were a stranger" I think this shows maturity in Anne and shows that she is capable of somewhat self-evaluating her self.
