Sir Henry Parkes gives his famous Tenterfield speech. He was known as the Father of Federation.he sevred 5 terms as Premier of NSW. Mr Parkes said "we shall present ourselves to the world as Australia" He died before his dream of federation came true. -

The Constitution was as set of rules that the government made so that we could become a nation.It was defeated by NSW. -
Second draft of the Constitution
The second Constitution was drafted after conventions in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The draft is sent to state parliaments. -
First referendum
It was passed by Vic, Tas, SA and defeated by NSW. -
Second Referendum
The second Referendum was held, all colonies passed. Following amendments to the Constitution. -

Australia had become one country and known as the Commonwealth of Australia.A new nation. Edmund Barton was the first Prime Minister.
